About heart and pride

Heart and Pride Wrestling was established to provide the Texas wrestling community with a comprehensive developmental program, with a focus on improving the technique, strength & conditioning, strategy, and mental toughness of each athlete. Heart and Pride Wrestling is open year-round with multiple program options to better serve our athletes. This program is for the serious competitor that is willing to commit their time, body, and minds to become champions.

OUR MISSION

Heart and Pride is more than wrestling, it’s a way of life. Our staff is committed to help each athlete develop the work ethic, technique, mental toughness, and physicality needed to compete at the highest level of wrestling.

Our goal is to instill hard work, discipline, dedication, and commitment in each of our athletes. It is our philosophy that with these skills, every athlete will have the tools required to become successful in all of life’s pursuits. Through innovative training techniques and multiple program options, our developmental system will inspire athletes to strive for greatness and do whatever it takes to achieve their individual goals.

The two hardest things to teach an athlete is to have Heart and Pride, if you wish to be a champion in life and on the mat Heart and Pride Wrestling Club is for you!

Who can JOIN?

Anyone can join Heart and Pride including girls. In recent years, the fastest growth in participation has come from states, such as Hawaii, Texas, California and Washington. These states have set up state tournaments for both girls and boys wrestling. Girls and boys currently in grades 6th through High school can participate and are welcomed to become the best athlete possible.

Coaches

Heart and Pride WC have a group of wrestling coaches that consider each other family.  With the knowledge and experience they all have they work together to build relationships with the community and its children to create a safe place where children can build confidence and learn to wrestle judgment free.  Our coaches experience range from the following:

  • Over 50 years combined of youth boys and girls wrestling and coaching
  • Multiple youth and high school state champions
  • High School and Collegiate coaching experience
  • Years of experience in strength and conditioning training
  • Experience with working with athletes that receive special education services, emotional support and behavioral support
  • Hosting and officiating wrestling tournaments
Our diverse program is a true representation of our coaching staff, our staff recognize the importance of academics and athletics, they have created a culture of integrity in and outside of the wrestling room.

Meet the coaches of Heart and Pride WC!!!

Randy Bryant

Coach Bryant was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Coach Bryant started his wrestling career at Curie Metropolitan High School. Coached by award winning coaches Dale Rowlett and Terrance Alexander, coach Bryant was able to become a South Sectional Champion, Chicago Public Schools City Tournament Runner-up and IHSA State Qualifying Senior. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Graduate Degree in Secondary Education. In Chicago he has been a Head Football coach on all levels and coached a league title team for Little Village High School in Chicago. He went on to become a Head Varsity Wrestling Coach for his Alma Mater. He then moved to the Austin area to become a Head Varsity Wrestling coach and quarterback football coach for Austin LBJ High School. During his 5 years at Austin LBJ he coached the team to 3 District titles. He has spent his past 18 years as an Educator coaching and teaching. He is currently an Assistant Principal in Austin ISD and continues to grow wrestling through the Heart and Pride Wrestling Club program.

Gerome Evans

Coach Evans was born and raised in Northern California. Coach Evans has been on the mat as a competitor and coach since he was 10 years old and competed on the mat until 2009. During that time he earned a place at the top of the podium as Mission Valley Athletic League Champion as well as a Northern Coastal Section Champion at James Logan High School in Union City. Coach Evans earned his degree in Psychology from Norfolk State University then Returned to Northern California to earn his Masters Degree in School Based Counseling from California State University East Bay. While back in California he was the head coach of the Hayward High School Wrestling Team where he earned the honor of Northern California Girls Wrestling coach of the year in 2016.

Christopher Lynch

Coach Lynch was born in Alexandria Bay, New York. He began wrestling at the age of five, following one of the Lynch family traditions. Coach Lynch attended Indian River Jr. Sr. High School in Philadelphia, New York. He competed at the varsity level for four years, becoming the winningest wrestler in the school’s history. He was the Section III champion but a knee injury kept him from competing for a state title his Senior year. After wrestling with SUNY Morrisville for a semester, Coach Lynch joined the Army where he served 23 years. Coach Lynch linked up with Coach Harrison’s father Coach Dale Harrison in 2010 with LCP Wrestling Club and eventually took over the head coaching position. Coach Lynch has a passion for wrestling and spends as much time as he can giving back to the sport.

Freddy Marquez

Coach Freddy was born and raised in Austin Texas, he has over a decade of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience all under professor Shane Zeringue. Since the start of his career he has been consistently training and competing all across the southern United States from the West coast of California to the East coast of Florida. He has competed in tournaments ranging from hole in the wall in house tournaments to competing in one, if not the biggest Jiu-Jitsu federations in the world, he has also had the opportunity to compete on stage in numerous professional Jiu-Jitsu fights and in numerous invitation only tournaments. He has had the privilege to compete against and share the mats with World champions old, new and future. He is a student of the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling. He’s an all around grappler who believes in Mushin…No Mind.

Maria Romero Coria

Coach Maria has made her mark in the Leander fitness community over the past 3 years offering her Hit Lift Fit members more than just a workout. Members are treated to her unique approach which encompases exercise, nutrition and lifestyle rightfully called “Hit Fit Lift”.

Using the “Hit Lift Fit” system, Coach Maria incorporates in-depth health and exercise evaluations, strength training and nutrition coaching to produce dramatic results for each individual member. Coach Maria not only works closely with “HLF” members but she also works with wrestling, karate and MMA members. She is ISSA certified for personal training and nutrition.

Nathan Harrison

Coach Harrison was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to the United States at a young age. He began his wrestling career at the age of five, taking after his dad who was a collegiate wrestler in Canada. Coach Harrison followed in his older brother’s footsteps, Tyler, and attended Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, TX. He went on to be a three time state qualifier and two time state placer, becoming the state runner-up his senior year. Coach Harrison furthered his wrestling career at the collegiate level where he was a scholarship student athlete at Western Colorado University, a NCAA division II school nestled in the heart of the rocky mountains. His collegiate career was unfortunately cut short due to injuries, but he graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science and Business. After taking some time away from wrestling, Coach Harrison has since began coaching as a way to give back to the sport that shaped his life. He currently is the co-founder of a small business, Technavance, along with his younger brother and mother. He continues to grow the great sport of wrestling at the Heart and Pride Wrestling Club program.

Patrick Timmons

Coach Timmons was born in Norman, Oklahoma but moved to Austin when he was two. Coach Timmons attended AISD schools throughout his childhood and attended the LASA program at LBJ High School. While at LASA he started wrestling after getting cut from the basketball team as a freshman. He did not see much success until his sophomore outing, winning the Capital Classic Tournament and starting the season undefeated. During the summer after his sophomore season, Coach Timmons wrestled in the Freestyle Wrestling State Championships becoming a state champion in freestyle at the cadet level. This allowed him to be a part of the Texas National Team and participate in the National Duals for Freestyle/Greco on the Texas All-American Team. Coach Timmons’ successes in high school include 4-time District finalist, 3-time District Champion, Regional Champion, 3-time Texas State Wrestling Tournament Qualifier, along with a Cadet Freestyle State Wrestling Championship. Following high school, Coach Timmons officiated the sport for over a decade in the Austin and San Antonio areas. Coach Timmons was the assistant wrestling coach at LBJ high school for three years from 2015-2017. During his time there, he helped the program win the Girls Team District Championship all three years and their first Boys District Championship in 2016. The boys repeated as district champions in 2017.

Trojan Youth Wrestling​

Registration for the Fall Season is NOW OPEN!!

  • Trojan Youth Wrestling is starting up again with the help of Heart & Pride Wrestling!
  • Our club is for all boys and girls 5th through 8th grade and practices will be at Anderson High School.
  • Season (First practice November 8th)
  • The season will begin Nov. 8th and end with the state tournament taking place in February in Round Rock.
  • There will be at least 4 tournament competitions in the local Austin area.
  • Practice
  •  Practice will be at Anderson High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:00pm.
  • These practices will be led by former Anderson High School coach Pat Moore.
  • An optional 3rd practice is available at Heart and Pride’s Leander facility on Sundays from 3PM – 5PM for an additional monthly cost of  $80.00.

Heart and Pride Wrestling offers multiple program options throughout the year. Whether you’re a beginner to the sport or an elite athlete wrestler this is the best program in the Austin area. With one of the best coaching staffs in the state we are confident our wrestlers will consistently have success at all levels of the sport.We are confident that we can help take your young athlete to the next level.

HPWC Annual Summer Wrestling Camp 2023

It’s about to be a hot summer in Austin!!! Join us for our 3rd Annual Co-ed Wrestling Camp… With camp featured instructors Nate Jackson, Freddie “The3comebackkid” Rodriguez and Adam Everson. Michigan, South Dakota and Illinois finest come together all under one roof in this fire wrestling camp!

Second Annual Golf 4 Grads

Our 2nd Annual “Golf 4 Grads” fundraising event on June 3rd.

This event will be held to raise money to support student athletes participating in academic and athletic opportunities held by Master Institute. In addition to sponsorship of Master Institute, we will provide all graduating high school seniors in our program college scholarships. As we all know extracurricular activities improve a student’s chance of graduating from high school, as educational opportunities are becoming limited by high college tuition prices and inflation we want to help support our community needs and dreams.

Masters Institute Enrichment Summer Camp

Masters Institute summer camp is all about growing athletically and academically over the summer. This is an 8-week program that is in session from June until August. During this program a child will participate in academic courses that provide rigor that will improve your child mental growth over the summer. Children will also participate in high quality athletic training that will provide physical and mental maturity. Courses include S.T.E.M, Music, Financial literacy, Martial Arts, Wrestling, Nutrition and more. Camp includes guest college and professional technicians in athletics and academics as well as group visits to companies that provide an in depth learning experience.

HPWC Youth Wrestling

Heart and Pride Wrestling Club offers wrestling club membership to all boys and girls of all ages. Having a membership allows you access to all wrestling classes held at our facility. Classes include technique and competition classes.

Youth membership is ideal for those who have no wrestling experience and are ages 13 and younger.

Heart and Pride Adult Wrestling Club offers wrestling club membership to all athletes that are high school graduates and which to continue or learn the sport wrestling. Our adult classes are open mat classes that can use to train for other events, get in shape or just have fun. Having a membership allows you access to all adult wrestling classes held at our facility.
